Copy right and Fair Use are very important concepts. Copy Rights mean that a persons original creation is their own and no one can take it to use it with the guise of it being their own work. Fair Use is a way to use someone's copy righted work but only are able to use a portion of it within certain guidelines. As a teacher it is very important to know the difference and to be able to help students navigate the internet to find the material they are needing to complete their project. One helpful place to search called "Public Domain" would have been very useful to me while I was in high school. As a teacher I feel that it would be beneficial for my students to understand the three concepts that I have just learned. It was very helpful. Having to create my own material is much easier knowing the "How to" aspect to safely come up with ideas or projects that will be safe to use and as original as I possibly can. For my students I would share the method in which I was able to create my material the best way possible, to ensure the success of my students project.

Two issues on Technology Implementation Issues that I want to discuss is Academic dishonesty and Student Productivity. I would handle Academic dishonesty in a serious manner however, with a light consequence. I believe that a student would make the correction on their own and would make the better choice to be honest in the future. I wouldn't give them credit on that particular assignment, but I wouldn't kick them from the class. I believe, that there is a root issue as to why they decided to cheat on an assignment or project. As with student productivity. I would try and keep that class interesting as well and stay engaged with the students. In my experience with substituting at the high school, students react much different with a sub that interacts with the students. I cover most of this ground just with taking roll. As I take roll, students start to see my personality and light heartedness. They become more attentive to what the assignment might be. However, there were still those students that didn't do their assignments but they didn't disrupt the class either. There have been times that with a little motivation and encouragement, students have started to work on their assignment. Students I believe need to have a connection to the teacher. I have had one student tell me that they weren't going to do the work given by the teacher based solely on the fact that they didn't like the teacher. My wife has had students in her class tell her that the only reason they do their work in her class is because they like her. So with those two narratives, I have concluded that if a student likes the teacher and the teacher is engaged with their students, the productivity in the classroom will stay consistent.

The Newsletter was a fun (yet slightly tedious) assignment. I learned how to do different art and text box entry type things. Setting the format to column made it a lot easier to do the assignment. I haven't had to use Microsoft Word in this type of setting in a long time. Normally I use it for essays and things like that. Moving forward, I feel more comfortable going into the next assignment having to use MS.

I would have to say that in my experience with Microsoft Word has been pretty good. When Microsoft first game out I was at the ground level. Internet was just a new thing and dial up was our way of connecting to the internet. It was very loud. But anyways, Microsoft has been easy to use for the most part. It was very user friendly. Plus I took a computer class in high school that taught how to use the program and we did assignments similar to this.  I have never really used any other kind of Word type program. So I guess I would have a biased opinion about it.

The ISTE Standards for Leaders that is the most meaningful because its a one on one and also as a group position. Helping the kids reach their potential and the value of who they are and how important they are. Using technology that will help them learn in a different way. Kids are very familiar with technology from a young age starting with a tablet or something similar. Using methods that they are used to learning is very important. Most kids are learning from watching videos and so their learning method would lean towards visual learning. I like the fact that as a teacher I would be more hands on and more personable with the kids.

The terms "Digital Immigrants" and "Digital Natives" makes a lot of sense to me. I am a Digital Immigrant. I remember when computers in the home meant that you had a lot of money. Computers weren't at a level where it was in everyone's home. They were expensive and internet lines were not inclusive. When my son was little and was growing up in the digital age when it was everywhere, he was learning how to use the tablet and was able to pick up short cuts and a better understanding of how things work on the internet at a higher rate than I can. I don't use the computer much or am I involved in all the different types of social medias and programs that my kids use. I taught him how to use the programs and now he's showing me how to use programs and navigate it.

I think that the Badge system is a great way to encourage students to not be discouraged about having perfect reports on curriculum. Life has its up and downs and things come up. I feel that it brings relief to students and be able to have some cushion throughout the semester. I have never had a class that had a Badge System. It's a cool thing to think that I could get rewarded for doing my work and to build a safety net that will help ensure I can still do well in my class even if I miss an assignment.

Blog# 1

 Hello,

My name is Jon and I am a Junior at FSU where I am studying Interdisciplinary Social Science. My main goal is to become a teacher and work at a local High School where I am also an Assistant Wrestling Coach. Until I am done with school, I work as a hard wood floor installer. I like the work that I do now and it is a very unique job that I enjoy. Learning how to refinish hardwood flooring and to be able to refinish my own floors would save me a lot of money if I ever had to redo them. ( I only have carpet and tile....But if I did have hardwood floors, I would do them :P ).

I have had very little experience in technology in an educational setting. I have substituted at the high school that I will eventually be teaching at, but as a sub, I don't even have a personal computer unless I brought my own laptop with me from home. I have seen the new tech that they have at the school being used. Tech such as smart boards that are linked to the projectors and things like that.

My own PLN, would consists of many different people. I do a lot of different things, so I would have multiple PLN. For instance, I am a coach. So my network would mainly consists of other coaches. Both locally and coaches from different teams. Also I would use YouTube as a source of watching training videos and high level coaches giving tips on how to coach better to get the best results out of the wrestlers. Another PLN that I would have would be through my church. I am involved with the youth program, and so my network would consists of the other leaders within the church, the deacons, other youth leaders in the area, and even the parents of the youth. All working together to provide the best experience for the kids as well as staying connected to them.
